I'm a retired principal, McGill Adjunct Professor, computer geek and proud grandfather! “Ancora imparo."
My career in education started in the mid- 70’s. My proudest achievement is that I am the founding principal of Clearpoint Elementary (2006) which is now an IB International School. Clearpoint is a community school and is open to all students (i.e. no testing). I have also worked in the Ministry of Education with the Quebec English Schools Network and before becoming a school principal (Terry Fox, Riverdale) I was the computer consultant at the Lester B. Pearson and Baldwin-Cartier School Boards. I retired from the LBPSB in 2012 but I continue to lecture at McGill University.
I was a member of the LCEEQ (Leadership Committee for English Education in Québec) representing principals since it’s inception in 2005. I stepped down in June 2019. Time for new blood @LCEEQ!
I love kids and schools. I think that learning in our schools should be project based and child-centered. I believe that a constructivist approach to learning should be our primary focus. I believe that technology should be used to amplify student voice through the use of the 6 C’s ( New Pedagogies for Deep Learning) in all subject areas: Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Citizenship, Character, Communication.
I also organized the LBP EdTech Summer Institute and volunteer in several LBPSB schools by giving workshops on how technology can transform learning and teaching.
My first passion has always been literature (reading great books) and I have just completed a Masters in English Literature at Université de Montréal just for fun!
