
November 2013 Update: Totally new workshop given to EMSB teachers on November 1 & 8. The emphasis was on getting kids to use their smartphone in the classroom. Poll Everywhere and Socrative were throughout the workshop which was titled: Reaching the i-Generation: Using Technology in Schools Today, Not Tomorrow !

The purpose of the workshop was to help administrators and center directors understand some of the latest technologies so they may embed these technologies in their school/center technology plans. The workshop was divided into 5 parts:
Part 1: A Vision of Students Today
- positive and negative (Comm-UQAM 2009 video)
- to learn is to create

Part 2: “the media is the massage” (McCluhan)
- “all media work us over completely”
- Tunisia, Egypt, China, etc.
- Going Viral

- Dove commercial and Green Peace response, etc.)
Part 3: from Web 1.0 to 2.0

- 2004 to present
- it’s about creating not just consuming
